During my three years at GitHub I had the pleasure of working as a lead designer on multiple projects ranging from product design to even brand and marketing work. Most notibly I lead the initial design and development of GitHub Discussions. I even had a chance to assist with some design guidance on GitHub's open source typeface: Mona Sans.

I worked as the lead designer for discussions, from early research, wireframing, prototyping all the way up to release. I even helped design the marketing page built for the feature.

I joined Airbnb as a retained contract experience designer in 2018. Over the next year and half I worked with multiple teams within the company. Initially helping up level the visuals and interactions of the web and mobile experience of the luxury tier products offered. Following I joined the design system team to focus on a full scale visual refresh of the entire Airbnb ecosystem on all platforms, working closely with leadership and brand. At the end of my time at Airbnb I transitioned my focus to the experience for hotels and professional hospitality businesses.
A refresh of the Airbnb Design Language System
I joined a team of 12 other designers in the summer of 2019 to focus on a visual and interaction refresh across all of the platforms supported by Airbnb. I was tasked with helping to define an interaction model that works seemlessly from touch to cursor. I was also asked to help define new flexible grid patterns and typography. Working alongside the brand design team we also refreshed the colors and patterns throughout the product to improve accessability and to provide a new meaningful and vivid experience across the whole of the business from billboard to screen.
Designing for a very different industry and a very different user
In late 2019 I transitioned from the design systems team onto the hotels team to focus on the needs of all of the new hotels being brought onto the Airbnb platform following the acquisition of HotelTonight. I worked along a small team of four designers, three product managers, and twenty four engineers to design and build a first version of tools designed specifically to meet the needs of hotels.
Hotels do not function in the same way as overall Airbnb hosts in many ways. Hotels offer a single room within a property, this meant that the listing page for a hotel would need to function differently than the listing of any other Airbnb listing. Hotels also operate with separate rate plans based on a variety of conditions. So within a brief one quarter sprint the team design and built a product to begin to bring more and more hotels and professional hospitality businesses over to the platform.

Senior Mobile Product Designer

I joined Slack in early 2015 to lead design for mobile products. The desktop experience was beginning to show positive results and the mobile experience was designed to mimic the large screen world. Working closely with the founders and a small group we put our focus on adjusting the mobile experience of Slack to more transactional and quick.
I also worked through a few design iterations of navigational prototypes. An update to the typographic structure of the product across all mediums.
Along with myself and a few other designers we re-imagined the onboarding and marketing experience within the product for new users.
And lastly, in the summer of 2015 I along with a handful of others helped to release reactions into the world.
Concepts
During my time at Slack many of my ideas never came to fruition. Here are a few concepts I developed around new feature ideas focused to a mobile experience as well as an adjusted navigation paradigm more in-line with the interface guidelines of the major mobile platforms of the world.

Overview of work completed
In my time at Twitter I had the chance to work on a slew of projects. My focus was around user growth and overall user experience. Some notable projects I shipped in my time at the company include: inline media (photos, videos and gifs), inline tweet actions, tweet threading and a new user onboarding a new user experience.
I also had the opportunity to work on a full scale mobile redesign in late 2013. This redesign moved direct messages to the primary navigation of the product and also removed the #discover tab and introduced a new swiping mechanic to help navigation curated lists, a feature that still exists within the current Twitter mobile products.
Design and code
Twitter is also the company where I really honed in my technical understanding, spending a good amount of my time working directly in code and partnered side by side with my engineering teams, in addition to my usual prototyping and other design duties.
